The following images of the Rainbow Bee Eater are provided to illustrate the effect of noise reduction on a digital image. The first image is the original image which was taken with a Nikon D2H, at ISO1600. This camera is not known for good noise performance at high ISO, compared to most of the newer cameras. The following two images show the difference after processing in Noiseware Pro to reduce the impact of noise. Noiseware Pro is a plug-in available for Photoshop.

Some aerial acrobatics.

Some more aerial acrobatics.

F111 dump and burn, a very spectacular thing to see. It appears that the F111 will not be around much longer. I hope they get an alternative that is just as spectacular.

This image of the Fairy Godmother at the Electrical Parade, Disneyland, Tokyo, Japan was taken with the Nikon, 17-55mm, f/2.8, DX, lens at 55mm and 1/125 second, camera hand held.

The new Nikon 50mm, f/1.4, AFS, lens would have been excellent for this image, also a monopod would have added to the sharpness. I am looking forward to going back to Japan next year.

Yesterday I went to the Toowoomba (Queensland, Australia) flower show, it was a blaze of colour. For the whole day I used mostly the 105mm VR lens, an excellent choice for this type of photography. There was only one word to describe the display, magnificent.

These digital cameras are marvelous as I was able to take hundreds of images. Some samples are included below, close ups of poppies, tulips and the colourfull flower beds.

There was also a street parade and I used the 105mm lens for this also, as the VR comes in very handy for this type of use. A sample image from the street parade is included below. Even in the street parade the theme is flowers.
